It would be very hard to be an American in a polygamous relationship. The reason for this is that the main American culture looks down upon polygamy. A polygamist may be discriminated against at work, in public, or in any other part of daily life. One possible conflict is a polygamist's coworker who strongly opposes polygamy may try to convince them that it is wrong.
Double vision can make a person look negatively upon themselves. The opinion of the masses has a huge effect on a person's mentality and if a person's beliefs, customs, or culture conflicts with the mainstream cultre, they may acquire a negative opinion of themself.
