Collectivism and Individualism

In collectivist cultures, motivation, teamwork, and team-gain are ideal. In an individualist culture, personal gain and achievement is emphasized.
In individualistic cultures, the senior member of a group is unlikely to be challenged. This is because not everyone is the group is considered equal.
If a boy grew up in an individualistic culture, then entered a collectivist environment school environment, he may try to compete with the students. This aggressive competition may cause a conflict.
An acquaintance is a person who you have met. It has no connotation. It neutrally means someone who you barely know.
