Critical Reading

The critical reading process outlined in the essay is very specific and tells many specific angles you can analyze a piece of writing. It talks first about the original preparation before reading. It talks about how that before reading a piece, analyzing things about the author and situation it was written in. This helps the reader get an idea for context on the piece before they even start reading. It also talks about actively reading and marking any time you see something interesting or that you do not understand. Also, the essay gave many different ways to think about a piece of writing to try and analyze what it really means. It tells specific aspects such as purpose of the author, tone, imaging, inferences, and titles. The main idea of this essay is that a piece of writing has much more to offer than simply what can be absorbed by skimming of even reading once.
